Czech Language

Czech Language is a West Slavic language (Czech, along with Slovak, Polish, and the High and Low Sorbian). It is the majority and only official language in the Czech Republic. It is spoken by about 96% of the population.

• Dobrý den – Good day, general salutation, widely used
• Dobré ráno – Good morning

• Na shledanou – Goodbye / See you later
• Nashle – Bye / See you
• Ahoj – Hello / Bye (informal; used amongst friends, colleagues or after clarification - improper when addressing people in the street, shop, etc.)

• Děkuji – Thank you
• Díky - Thanks
• Prosím - Please / You're welcome
• Vítejte – Welcome
• Jak se máš? – How are you?
